WFH (Work from Home) will be the new normal in such pandemic times. For the sake of business continuity, every enterprise will have to take it seriously. This week I had an interesting conversation over a pre-sales call. It was all about concerns and dilemmas of an enterprise over providing for an effecting WFH environment.

The following are the excerpts. I hope it will help the readers.

A

We have invested in high-end design software and powerful workstations for our design users. These designs are our IPR. We are concerned about the possibility of leakage or theft of this data. How can we provide WFH?

All you need is a static IP at your office and a DLPbox. DLPbox has endpoint software installed on every workstation. DLPbox is also a powerful VPN server. You can safely give away your workstations to your employees at home. They can connect to DLPLbox over VPN, access the design data, and download, work, and upload it back. DLPbox endpoint software that we installed on these workstations will do the job. It will prevent data leakage over USB, EMail, and the Internet. DLPbox endpoint software will take a backup of data on the workstation.

Our employees have a personal desktop or laptop at home. Can we give them access to our enterprise data on their desktop or laptop? We are concerned about the possibility of leakage or theft of this data. How can we provide WFH?

Yes, you can use DLPbox Duo endpoint software. It divides an employee’s personal desktop or laptop into two zones.

Enterprise Zone

Here is where your enterprise data can be accessible over VPN. Users can access, download, work, and upload back the data on DLPbox over VPN on a static IP. All the policies about USB controls, Email Vigilance, and Internet Controls to prevent data leakage or theft are enforced in the enterprise zone.

Personal Zone

Here is where the user’s personal data resides. While in a personal zone, users can freely access personal data, personal email, and online storage drives but cannot access enterprise data. Data Leakage or Theft Prevention policies are not applied in the personal zone. Automatic backup of only the enterprise data happens in our data center.

C

We have some ERP applications hosted on our local servers. How can we give access to them over low bandwidth while users work from home?

DLPbox has a unique “One For Many” Technology. It can allow users to access your ERP systems, be it Tally, SAP, Home-Grown, or Customized over VPN.

This A, B, and C complete the circle of all your queries about WFH. I will be happy to address your specific concerns.
